1st BX fundraising page

As the 1st BX Scout Group here in Vernon, we will have 25 Scouts, Venturer Scouts and volunteer Scouters (Leaders) attending the Pacific Jamboree in Sooke, BC on Vancouver Island this July!

For a Scout, the Pacific Jamboree is a once-in-a-lifetime camp that is held every four years with 3000+ Scouts/Ventures/Scouters attending. Youth will tent for a full week and participate in various activities that will promote personal challenges, teamwork, and adventure.

For many youth it will be their first time taking a BC Ferry voyage across the Strait of Georgia and through the Gulf Islands or being away from home for more than a day or two!

Our youth are very active in our community as we value helping and giving back to others. We help at various events such as the Remembrance Day ceremony, selling poppies for the Legion, Canada Day celebrations, singing for the residents of Noric House, Polson Extended and the Hamlets as well as and participating in environmental clean-ups. Our youth have also organized and lead us in volunteering at the Upper Room Mission, run food drives, and donated to the SPCA, to name a few initiatives. No doubt, the experiences and lessons learned at Pacific Jamboree will, in turn, be paid forward to us all as our youth grow into young adults in our community!

To cut to the chase, we are a non-profit group and have an estimated cost of $28,000 to get us all to camp. As such, we are working hard to raise what we need through various fundraisers. We are humbly asking for your financial help.

If you're able to help us out, please contact our Scouter Amanda (250-938-1960) or Scouter Dave (250-542-3654). Thank you!
